The 2016 Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award is awarded to John Mallard for the poster/PICO entitled:

Hydrologic and biologic influences on stream network nutrient concentrations: Interactions of hydrologic turnover and concentration-dependent nutrient uptake (Mallard, J.; McGlynn, B.; Covino, T.)

John Mallard is a PhD Student in the Nicholas School of the Environment under the supervision of Dr. Brian McGlynn. He is currently affiliated with the Calhoun Critical Zone Observatory in South Carolina, USA, where he studies runoff generation processes in landscapes with complex terrain, complex pedology, and a legacy of agricultural cultivation. His poster, “Hydrologic and biologic influences on stream network nutrient concentrations: Interactions of hydrologic turnover and concentration-dependent nutrient uptake” addresses finalized results from a combined field and modeling study of how physical and biological processes combine to control nutrient concentrations in streams.
