Hannes Müller is a PostDoc at the Institute of Hydrology and Water Resources Management at the Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany. He finished his PhD with the thesis entitled “Rainfall disaggregation for hydrological modeling” at the same institute in 2016. The essential element of the thesis is the generation of high-resolution rainfall time series and their application in rainfall-runoff as well as urban hydrological models. The awarded poster entitled “Rainfall disaggregation for hydrological modeling: Is there a need for spatial consistence?” shows results regarding the rainfall-runoff simulations. From daily rainfall totals time series with an hourly resolution are generated as input for rainfall-runoff modeling. Although different variants for the implementation of spatial consistence in the generated high-resolution time series result in clear differences in the spatial rainfall behavior, the effect on simulated discharge time series regarding several flow statistics is almost not identifiable and hence questionable. The investigations are carried out for several catchments in Lower Saxony, Germany.
