Computational Infrastructure for Geodynamics
Headquartered at UC Davis, the Computational Infrastructure for Geodynamics (CIG) develops, supports, and disseminates community-accessible software for the international geodynamics research community. CIG software supports a variety of geodynamic research from mantle and core dynamics, to crustal and earthquake dynamics, to magma migration and seismology. Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), CIG is a community-governed organization that is committed to develop and maintain the geodynamics community through community participation across this research spectrum. Software developed is made available to the public under open-source software licenses.
We seek a Community Manager (CM) with a background in the geosciences to develop and lead community engagement, education, and diversity initiatives for our community. The CM will work with our community to construct new online courses and cultivate and maintain communication channels. The CM will promote within the organization issues in Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI). The CM will assist in organization wide activities. The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in the geosciences, familiarity with developing online course content, a strong interest in science communication, and experience with programming/scripting language(s).
